Buckden Surgery Patients Association

This scheme was set up at the original conception of the BSPA in order to help and support patients with a need to see the Doctor, Nurse, Chiropodist etc. In recent years this service has been extended to take patients to the dentist, opticians etc. Please note that this service DOES NOT undertake journeys to NHS Hospitals. The scheme has a co-ordinator supported by a team of volunteer drivers. Anyone needing this help should contact the co-ordinator through the Surgery Reception who, in turn, will arrange for the patient to be transported to and from the surgery etc. The current charge to the patient is 18 pence per mile with a minimum of £1, depending on location.

Friends in Deed and the Community Cafe

There are times in our lives when we could all do with a little extra friendship, support or companionship whatever our age or circumstance. Friends in Deed is a group of volunteers here to help anyone who is lonely or in need. We can provide a cuppa, cake and a chat at the Community Café; someone to talk to; friendship; transport; practical help with form-filling or signposting to agencies such as debt agencies, citizen’s advice and Foodbank.

Our Community Café runs on the second Wednesday of every month from 2.30pm to 4.00pm in the Living Stones Room, St Mary's Church, Buckden.  Come along and find out more.

Buckden Friends

Having organised trips for Buckden WI for many years Brian and I found that others in the villages would come along to the point that there were more 'others' than WI people.  To reflect this we decided to run a Buckden Friends Group and invite villagers and friends to come on our outings.  The coach is exclusive to our group and runs from Buckden.  Details of trips can be found in the Roundabout.  We aim to run 6 trips a year and two holidays, one in May and one in October.  If you want to be on our email list please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  More info needed, phone 01480 811020, or mobile  07905 225911. Ideas for wanted trips welcomed.
