Buckden - a Huntingdonshire Village
PB1.3 A view looking northwards in 2007. One can pick out The Vine Inn, The George Hotel, The Lion Hotel, the previous vicarage, the Manor House, the present vicarage and St. Mary’s church. On the west side of the church can be seen the 1872 Towers’ servants’ quarters and stables and what was the kitchen garden. The knot garden, inner gatehouse and the Great Tower of the Palace are closer by. Just north of the church can be seen part of the 1959 St Hugh’s church and the roofs of the Towers 1872 house. The utilitarian St Stephens Hall is on the north edge of the group of buildings. The open ground is the Little Park of the Palace. Photograph by and courtesy of David Stephens of Old Weston
