Buckden - a Huntingdonshire Village

PB1.5.1 The George Hotel and Lofts’ antiques shop ca 1920.The George’s sign is away for cleaning or restoration. Beyond the porch are the post office and the forge with The Vine public house beyond that. The AA was rating hotels from 1912 onwards. The ACU (Autocycle Union) was started in 1903. Philip Gale Collection PB1.5.2 2009 Due to the demolition of the post office some time after 1922 and part of the forge The Vine can be seen. The antiques shop is now part of Anne Furbank’s ladies dress shop. The hotel’s sign includes twelve Georges (one for each bedroom ) and is hung well clear of high vehicles.
