PB1.6.1 The Lion Hotel in the early 1900s. It had fewer rooms than now. The bay on the corner of Church Street was not part of it. Contrary to a onetime claim it was never a posting house. In the last hundred years it has had many owners and many managers. It was owned by Trust Houses until the directors decided that they did not want hotels with less than twenty bedrooms and so sold it into private ownership.
