April 2020

12 Buckden Roundabout April 2020 Scouts The Scouting movement was founded by Robert Baden - Powell in 1908 as a method of teaching young people skills for life through a programme of outdoor activities, adventure and fun. Today over 450,000 young people aged 6 – 25 years take part in Scouting in the UK with over 40 million members world- wide. Through an exciting programme of activities, from kayaking to coding, we help girls and boys develop the practi- cal, employability and character skills they need to succeed in life. This is made possible by the efforts of over 150,000 adult volunteers. Fundraising The money we raise goes towards camps, trips, activities and upkeep of the Scout Hut. We would like to thank everyone who continues to support our fundraising activities. We greatly appreciate it! Future Events: Sat 25 th April – Scout Breakfast Sun 14 th June – Table Top Sale 11 th & 12 th Sept – Beer & Gin Festival Located on Lucks Lane Buckden, 1st Southoe and Buckden is your Scout Group. We currently run activities for approximately 90 children aged between 6 and 18 with two Beaver Colonies (aged 6 - 8), a Cub Pack (aged 8 - 10½), Scout Section (aged 10½ - 14) and a District Explorer Scout Section (aged 14 - 18). It is our belief (and that of the parents) that the skills and confidence the group provides enables our young people to show leadership, work well in teams and be more likely to make a positive contribution to their community in the future.
