As ever, we are very grateful. We are looking for more paintings of any kind that we could use as a front cover. We can photograph them if you only have original artwork. We are also keen to get images (photos or paintings) of the village and surrounding areas in prepara- tion for future issues. Please note that images should ideally be in portrait format and should be a minimum of 2400 x 1700 pixels. More is better! We can ’ t say now whether the future steps will happen as planned—that all depends on how the cases go— but we all hope that things go well. Whatever happens, the Roundabout team hopes that the monthly delivery of the magazine on your doorstep has been a small light in the diffi- cult times. This month, we have some interesting articles for you. Terry Hayward continues his fascinating history of the Parish Coun- cil. Who would have thought that subject could entertain?—it sounds so dry. But Terry has turned it into a social history, focusing on how people lived in Buckden in the past and I for one find it compelling reading. This month he reminds us how late some of the mains utilities, water, sewerage and electrici- ty, came to the village. It ’ s on page 14. Mark Ward ’ s regular Wildlife in Buckden piece is on page 12 — the highlight for me is his sighting of a White - Tailed Eagle at Grafham water hunting and catching fish. Did you ever wonder what the Toseland Hundred means? Go to page 7 where Richard Storey, Secretary of the Buckden Local History Society reveals all. Don ’ t forget to vote in the local elections on 6th May and sup- port the Buckden Local Plan in the referendum. If you can ’ t or don ’ t want to vote in person, now is the time to apply for a postal vote. Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. As well as every edition from 2013 onwards available to see, there are often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition, as well as information that arrives during the month: www.buckdenroundabout.info This month ’ s editor - Alec MacAndrew Editor ’ s Page
