April 2022
14 Buckden Roundabout April 2022 Village News Buckden WI March heralded our AGM, put back from December due to the Covid pandemic and the lack of meetings over the last year. There was a really good attend- ance by members and we wel- comed four guests plus Phyllis Brook, our advisor, who kindly agreed to over - see the election of our President. Ruth Nicholas was duly nominated and thanked all those who voted for her with special thanks to her committee for their support over the past year. She then outlined some events to look forward to in the com- ing months, one of which was to be a Garden Party to cele- brate the Queen ’ s Jubilee. With the formalities over, it was time for refreshments, and, as an extra treat, the committee had been busy baking cakes so members could enjoy a slice with their cuppa. To complete the evening there was a quiz based around pud- dings followed by the raffle. It was a most enjoyable evening and so nice to meet up again without the need for masks! Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 5th April at 7.30pm in the Millard Suite. The talk will be about John Flynn and the Australian Flying Doc- tor Service which should be of great interest to many. Visitors and new members are always made very welcome and if you would like more information then please contact Ruth Nicholas – 07957 334142 or Judith Armitage – 01480 811717 Buckden Junior Football Club End of Season Event!
