The trenches have been dug and pipes laid that will take water when it rains. A series of man- holes have been installed to allow easy access to inspect drainage and clear blockages. At some points infrastructure issues such as gas pipes have meant changes to the specifica- tions for the pipe work, but these are being dealt with as they arise. Additional gullies are being installed to drain the water more quickly from the road surface. The water will be divert- ed to the Taylor ’ s Lane culvert. The Parish Council would like to thank the contractors for the care they are taking and the consideration that they are showing to residents. The Queen ’ s Platinum Jubilee Plans are progressing for the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations over the long weekend of 2 nd to 5 th June. The schedule of events so far is included on page 7. This is ‘ work in progress ’ and will be updated as further events are confirmed. Please let us know of any plans you have, to celebrate the Jubilee including any street parties, via buckenjubi- lee@gmail.com. We will produce an article covering all Buck- den Celebrations in May ’ s Roundabout. Beacons will be lit on the Thursday evening across the UK. We will be purchasing a beacon which will be lit at the Village Rec- reation Ground at 9.45pm. The beacon will be moved during Friday to the Towers where it will have a permanent home. Annual Parish Assembly This is a meeting for residents of the village where we present our annual report and give local groups and elected repre- sentatives the chance to present what they have been doing over the last year. The Assembly will take place on Tuesday 17 th May at 7.30pm in the village hall. Please join us. If you have any subjects you would like us to cover, please contact the clerk. Great Ouse Valley Way The Parish Council has been lobbying for National Highways and the Envi- ronment Agency to agree a design solution to the problem of the continuing bank erosion under the A14. We have regularly communicated with the Great Ouse Valley Trust about this issue, and they have just in- formed us that National Highways have completed a design for the remedial work which has been submitted to the Envi- ronment Agency for the necessary permit. Apparently, the permit approval can take up to 8 weeks. Once the project has been approved discussions will ensue on how the path can be kept open whilst the work is carried out. Thanks to everyone who has campaigned to get this essential work carried out. Assistant Parish Clerk Due to the ongoing expansion of the village, we have recruit- ed a part time clerk, Jess Thomson. We would like to welcome Jess to the village and the team. Vacancy We have two vacancies for Parish Councillors. If you are inter- ested, please contact the Clerk for further details.
