21 Buckden Roundabout August 2021 Village News August 2021 The Summer Reading Challenge is here! Encourage your children to continue reading over the summer with the 2021 Summer Reading Challenge. This year ’ s theme is Wild World Heroes, chosen to inspire children to stand up for our planet. You can register online or pop in to the library to sign up. Children receive a sticker chart to complete, being re- warded with one of six stickers for every book they read, or share with an adult. We also have a mini chal- lenge for younger readers. We have a great selection of children ’ s books; board and picture books, early readers and chapter books, titles for young adults and of course a great range of non - fiction for inquisitive minds! Super Saturdays At the time of writing, we have added Saturday morn- ings to our opening hours. We hope that we will be able to move back to our normal opening hours following Government announcements on the easing of re- strictions, so please check the library service website and your local library window displays for up - to - date information. Our opening hours at the time of writing are: • Tuesday - 2pm - 6pm • Friday - 10am - 2pm • Saturday 10am - 1pm Can ’ t get to us? Then we can come to you. Help us keep Buckden tidy Balloon over Buckden Last month ’ s cover photo showed a hot - air balloon which passed over St Mary ’ s Church a couple of years ago. By pure coincidence, just after we went to print, this hot - air balloon skimmed the trees near the school field and landed in the field itself. Our thanks to Phil Lamdin who took the super photo above.
