Unsecure motorcycles, scooters and mopeds are being target- ed by thieves as they are lightweight and can be wheeled away easily. There is increase in mopeds, scooters and motorbikes of ALL MAKES AND MODELS being taken from driveway, car parks and public places. Thieves only need a matter of seconds to steal a moped, scooter or motorcycle, especially if they are left with poor se- curity. Always ‘ lock, chain and cover ’ LOCK Use a disc lock to help secure the front brake disc. CHAIN Use a chain lock through the back wheel and where possible secure your bike, with the lock, to an immovable object like a ground anchor or street furniture. COVER Thieves often ‘ shop ‘ for particular models, using cover instant- ly makes it less attractive to them. There are other measures you can take including fitting an alarm, marking parts of the bike to make them difficult for criminals to sell on, keeping your bike in a garage or shed or in a well - lit area with CCTV HAVE YOU RECEIVED THIS TELEPHONE CALL? The caller telephones and says “ I am from the Metropolitan Police and we have your grandson in custody. He has your credit card in his possession and claims that you gave him per- mission to use the card. His name is ----- ------ ”. The victim replies that they have no grandson of that name. The caller says ” In that case, you are victim of identity fraud and your card details been stolen. I will require details from you to recover your card. ” This is a scam. Do not give details to the caller. Replace the receiver and contact your bank at the earliest opportunity. Buckden WI Our July meeting was a Garden Party at Rosey ’ s. A buffet meal was provided including some delicious desserts made by a Committee Member. Some members brought their own drink to make it more of a social evening. We all enjoyed eating and socialising with each other. A raffle took place and a quiz all about the Queen, which caused some discussion about what we knew. It was a relaxing evening before our Summer break. At the next Meeting, Tuesday 6th September 7:30pm in the Millard Suite at the village hall our talk will be “ History of salt from Cheshire to A14 ”. Everyone is warmly welcomed. There will be a competition, raffle and Market Stall.
