As ever, we are very grateful. We are looking for more photos and paintings of any kind that we could use as a front cover. We especially need photos and paintings of autumn scenes, and of events in the village. We should be grateful for photos (or even paintings!) of the coro- nation celebrations in the village. Please note that photos should ideally be in portrait format and should be a minimum of 2400 x 1700 pixels. More is better! Last year we ran a very successful Christmas cover art competition and this year we are doing it again. I know it ’ s only August, the tar is melting on the roads (perhaps), every- one is at the seaside and Christmas seems a long way off, but the deadline for entries will be upon us before you can say “ felt tip pen ”. So get your art materials and your cameras out and design a beautiful cover for the Christmas edition of the Roundabout. There are cash prizes to be won and the overall winner will see their design on the cover of the Christmas edi- tion. For more details see the advert on page 19 of this issue. Look out for hints and tips on how to be successful in the next (September) issue of the magazine. This month, we continue our excellent series of wildlife arti- cles kindly provided by Gregory Belcher, the Senior Reserves Officer at Grafham Water, with an article on poppies. The common variety creates a splash of brilliant red in many culti- vated fields in the summer. Learn more about this fascinating family of flowers on page 17. The Roundabout relies on volunteers to produce and distrib- ute the magazine. At the moment, we are looking for more people to help with delivering the magazine. Each of our vol- unteer deliverers distributes between 20 and 50 magazines each month to homes in Buckden. It doesn ’ t take more than about a half hour each month, it gets you out and about and it ’ s a great help to the editorial team. For more details contact our distribution co - ordinator, Lesley MacAndrew: distribution@buckdenroundabout.info Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. As well as every edition from 2013 onwards available to see, there are often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition, as well as information that arrives during the month.
