December 2021

12 Buckden Roundabout December 2021 Village News Buckden WI Our meeting on Tuesday, November 2nd, was a real “ hands on ” affair where members were encouraged to tap into their creative sides. Beccy Boxer was our welcome guest for the evening, bringing along a variety of ceramic shapes for us to decorate. There were small bowls, vases and smaller shapes such as hearts, circular discs and a selection of Christmas themed ideas that could be hung onto a tree or worn as a pendant. Beccy demonstrated how to mix and apply the various colours which all looked rather pale but we were assured that after firing they would be much brighter. The concentration of our members as they painstakingly applied the colours was palpable – you could have heard a pin drop! Many of us were doubtful of our artistic capabilities but we were encouraged to use simple designs such as lines or dots to make patterns rather than trying to create landscapes or mini works of art. A great sigh of relief from the vast majority of us! It was a fun evening and gave us the chance to sit in small groups whilst enjoying each others efforts and a cup of tea. Our ceramics have now gone off to be fired and we wait with bated breath for the results. Thank you, Beccy, for a very entertaining and creative evening. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, December 7th, and is our an- nual Christmas Social evening with food. It is always a very enjoyable event so do try and come along.
