That is the kind of ques- tions that may be asked at this time of year. For me the most obvious answer is that I will be celebrating the birth of Jesus. The clue lies in the word we use, CHRISTmas, which means the feast of Christ. In all the celebrations we have missed what it is all about if Jesus is missed out. Christmas is a season of spiritual reflection on the foundations of the Christian faith. It ’ s also a celebration of the arrival of Jesus. Christmas is a time for Christians to praise God ’ s love for the world through the birth of His Son: Jesus. The Bible tells of His birth hundreds of years before, fulfilling prophecies from the Old Testament. "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the govern- ment shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6) 2,000 years since the birth of Jesus we are still looking to the one who is the Prince of Peace. Jesus is at the heart of history and as we celebrate the birth of Jesus may he be at the heart of our lives. Keeping Buckden Beautiful The Perry Christmas As Christmas approaches there is so much that is happening in the village, but always remember that the church has a special invitation for all in the community to join in the celebration. First of all, we are looking forward to a “ Souper Carol ” event. No, that ’ s not a typo. On Monday 16th December we will hold an event that is not only a super carol event but also A SOUPER carol event. As will be widely known we have a regular drop in twice a month and it is good to see so many coming from the community. Following our regular Drop - In, we will have soup and Carols from midday on. Please note this in your diary and have a super time at the Perry Baptist Church. Carol singing is going to feature quite a bit in the village. Plans are being made for carol singing around the village, the day and time will be decided soon, but if you wish to be a part of this village event then please contact me at 01480 700810. In addi- tion, there will be a Carol Service on Sunday 22nd December at 10.30 am to which all will be welcome. Finally, a special Christmas Day Service in the church at 10.30am. Of course, that will be 25 th December.
