6 Buckden Roundabout February 2021 Buckden Neighbourhood Watch SCAM WARNING Fake COVID - 19 Vaccine Scam Text. Scammers continue to exploit the confusion of the corona- virus pandemic to commit fraud on unsuspecting victims – this time by way of a fake text claiming the recipient can get a dose of one of the newly - approved vaccines. The bogus message reads NHS: We have identified that your are eligible to apply for your vaccine. For more information and to apply, follow here: Uk - application - form.com First thing to note is that line one reads ‘ your ’ surely it should have read ‘ you ’ . The text is a fake and if you do click on the link you are taken to a webpage branded to look like a genu- ine NHS page, which requests to see proof of address, in the form of your bank account, sort code and a full bank card number. Please do not give any bank or card details to make a payment for a vaccine or to prove your residential address. Coronavirus vaccines are administered free of charge. Your surgery or the NHS will not ask for any money or bank details. Beware also telephone calls claiming to be from NHS in- structing you to press a key to confirm you would like to re- ceive the vaccine or asking for bank details as confirmation to receive the vaccine. Both are likely to result in financial fraud – either as a charge on your bill or unauthorised use of your bank account. The network of local practices (Buckden & Little Paxton, Almond Road, Kimbolton, Alconbury and Brampton) has signed up to deliver the Covid 19 vaccine and will be using Little Paxton and Alcon- bury surgeries as the main vaccination hubs. There is a PROVISIONAL start date of 18 January but there may be a couple of weeks lag before delivery. There will be only 3 days warning for the surgeries to organise and arrange batches of 1100 appointments. Vaccinations will start with the over 80s and then work through the most vulnerable groups of patients as per the NHS guidance. PATIENTS WILL BE CONTACTED BY THE SURGERY when the de- livery details are available. Please do not call the surgery your- self. This will be an ongoing and major task putting even great- er strain on the surgery. It has been an uncertain time for everyone. Please support our surgery with kindness and respect, they are keen to roll out the vaccine as soon as possible . BLPSPA aims to represent the interests of patients and improve the patient experience at your local surgery. If you register with the surgery you are automatically a member of the Pa- tients Association. Join our committee BLPSPA is always looking for new committee members. We need opinions from all groups in society particularly under - represented groups as well as people with young families and within full time employment to raise issues pertinent to that group/stage in life. We meet 4 times per year for about 60 minutes. * Robgardiner2@btinternet.com Join our 200 Club lottery Help us with fundraising by joining our 200 Club lottery. For an annual subscription of just £12, you will be entered into a quar- terly draw in December, March, June and September. At each draw there is one prize of £100 and four prizes of £25. There is also a bonus prize in December of £200 and in June of £100. * blpspa200club@gmail.com Looking further ahead, work is still proceeding on building a new County Council HQ at Alconbury Weald. This is 3 months behind schedule but is expected to be operational from Sep- tember 2021. This will be a more modern and economical building to run than the current Shire Hall in Cambridge. The Shire Hall site will be let out and it is hoped that this will raise substantial revenue for the County. However, as the new HQ will be located well towards the western edge of the council area, there will be an increase in travel costs and time for most staff and councillors. By the time Roundabout drops through your letter - box, who knows what the situation may be?. I hope that we can all re- spect the lockdown, stay safe and well, in spite of it all. Special Offer ! As schools are closed for most pupils, I am offering French conversation sessions via Zoom for any pupils taking GCSE or A Level. No charge, just get in touch to see if we can manage it.
