January 2021

17 Buckden Roundabout January 2021 Village News Buckden Junior Football Club After what was a very quiet month for us in terms of Football being played in November, as we write we are hugely excited about its imminent return with our season resuming along with train- ing for all our players. Grassroots foot- ball, like so many other sports, is more than just a game for so many and we can ’ t wait to pick up where we left off. If December goes to schedule, we will have had a very busy month of games and training, so we will be looking forward to continuing in January. Our club has taken great steps to ensure the safety of all play- ers, officials and spectators including hand sanitising stations around our pitches, social distancing on the side lines and en- suring everyone in attendance registers to ensure that track and trace can work efficiently. Butler Residential. Our club sponsor – Butler Residential, have been very gener- ously donating £50 for every property listed with them, for a limited period. We received our first payment from them this month, which has enabled us to purchase some excellent new line markers and paint. The new markers will mean that our lines will remain visible for much longer, which will not only save us money in the future, but also the time of our coaches and other volunteers who mark our pitches for us. A huge thank you to Laura and Barry from Butler Residential for this extremely generous donation. Details of our Dribblers and Development sessions – for when conditions allow. Our Dribblers sessions are now split into two - older dribblers (school year 1) and younger dribblers (age 3 and above). Older dribblers play on a Saturday from 9am, younger dribblers play on a Sunday morning from 9am. We also run weekly development sessions. The aim of these sessions is to give children aged U7 - U10 (school years 2 - 5) a chance to learn the skills they need to assist them in the future with finding a team – please contact us for more details. For more information on the club, joining a team or the com- mittee please contact our Chairman Michael Lander via bjfc- chairman@hotmail.com . All of us at BJFC would like to thank all our players, parents coaches and supporters for all the amazing help, patience, trust and support you ’ ve given us all in an unprecedented and unusual year and not only do we wish Everyone a very Happy Christmas but almost more importantly, we wish everyone a Better, Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2021. Re - Opening The Hall is re - opening on the 11 th January 2021, COVID - 19 willing. New Trustees The trust leafleted the whole village in November asking for people to put themselves forward as volunteers or trustees. We have had a good response from people wanting to vol- unteer to help, particularly with the Valley. However, we are still looking for new trustees and in partic- ular trustees who are willing and able to take up the Chair and Treasurer roles. If you are interested please get in touch by emailing admin@buckdenvillagehall.co.uk Both roles provide some interesting work, and it is positive way for you to help our local community.
