We reopen on Tuesday 4 th Janu- ary. Rhymetime We are continuing to run our popular Rhymetime sessions on Wednesdays at 10am - stories, rhymes, songs and fun for the under 5s. Prebooking is essential as numbers are limited. Please call in to book, or telephone on the number below. Children must be accompa- nied by an adult. Duplo and games for the under 5s Each Tuesday morning during term time between 10 and 1 our chil- dren ’ s library has a selection of jigsaws, Orchard games, Duplo and other toys available for the under 5s. No need to book, just drop in to meet up with other families. Again, children need to be accompanied by an adult. Knit Lit Do you enjoy knitting and reading? Knit lit is now meeting in the Methodist Church in Buckden on alternate Fridays from 7pm until 9pm. The next meeting dates for the group are 14 & 28 January, and 11 & 25 February – you are welcome to join them – just turn up! Age UK visit We were pleased to welcome back Caroline from Age UK in December as she restarted her drop in sessions once a month. Keep an eye on the library windows and our Facebook pages for dates when Caroline will be calling in. Age UK offer free information, advice and support for the over 65s and their families. No appointment needed, just drop in for help and guidance on how to continue to live independently. Stamps In keeping with fellow libraries, Buckden is now selling stamps. We have books of first and second class stamps – please ask at the coun- ter. Time to apply for or renew your bus pass? We can help. To renew, just call in with your existing bus pass. If you are applying for your first pass, and are of pensionable age, you will need to bring proof of age, proof of address and your national insurance number. There is no charge for this service. New to the village? A Cambridgeshire library card will work in any Cambridgeshire library, so if you have previously used your card elsewhere in the county you can continue to do so in the library on your (new) doorstep. If you have moved from further afield, pop in with some identification (showing your address) to register for your free Cambridgeshire li- brary card so that you can use our services. We therefore want to recruit an Assistant Clerk, initially for 4 hours per week. This may increase over time and extra hours will be required periodically to cover for the Clerk ’ s holidays. The position is based in Buckden Village Hall, but it will be possible to undertake most of the work from home. It is an ideal role for someone who might want to train as a Parish Clerk in the future. This is an excellent opportunity to become involved with and support our residents. You will need to be computer literate, customer focused, organised and flexible. Key tasks include: • Providing administrative support to the Parish Clerk • Undertaking all aspects of cemetery administration to ensure the smooth operation of the cemetery • Supporting the Clerk in undertaking reviews of policy, procedures, and standing orders • Updating the Parish website/social media • Responding to queries raised by members of the public • Answering the telephone, dealing with messages, sorting the post, and filing Training will be given.
