We are very grateful. We are looking for more photos and paintings of any kind that we could use as a front cover. We especially need photos and paintings of autumn scenes, and of events in the village. We should be grateful for photos (or even paintings!) of the coro- nation celebrations in the village. Please note that photos should ideally be in portrait format and should be a minimum of 2400 x 1700 pixels. More is better! That ’ s ok—you don ’ t have to. I hope all our readers had a joyful and peaceful Christmas with family and friends. The New Year is traditionally a time when we make resolu- tions. In 2024, we say, I ’ m going to get fitter, healthier and wiser. Well, the Climate Change Group on the Parish Council have got a few suggestions for 2024 resolutions—check them out on page 12. The chairman of Buckden ’ s Local History Society, Richard Sto- rey, has another excellent article in his local history series. This time he writes about the history of ancient woodland in and around Buckden and describes the tiny remnants of these woods—Brampton Wood and Diddington Wood, both of which are very much worth a visit. Read his article on page 13. We also welcome another wildlife article from Gregory Belch- er, the Senior Reserves Officer at Grafham Water. This month he writes about the five species of heron that can regularly be seen in the UK. Two are native species and the other three are increasingly common visitors. His article begins on page 5. If you have a business in Buckden or the surrounding area, please consider advertising in the Roundabout. We rely en- tirely on the income from advertisements to fund the maga- zine. Our current advertisers tell us that significant business comes from readers of the Roundabout. To enquire about advertising, contact our advertising manager, Fiona, at adverts@buckdenroundabout.info. We wish all our readers, advertisers, contributors and volun- teer distributors a very happy New Year. Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. As well as every edition from 2013 onwards available to see, there are often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition, as well as information that arrives during the month.
