January 2025

14 Buckden Roundabout January 2025 Village News W.I. Our last meeting of 2024 saw members decked out in sparkles and glitter for an evening of fun and games. Quizzes on sweets and Christmas facts and traditions taxed both our brains and our memories whilst enjoying mulled wine and tasty treats. Additional fun was a game involving throwing dice to try and win one of the many gifts in the centre of the table. With a throw of 2, you could claim a gift, with a 4, you gave the gift away and with a 6, stealing a gift from someone else. A far cry from Pass the Par- cel and with 20 plus ladies all vying for the box of chocolate fingers the noise level rose significantly! A super evening thoroughly enjoyed by all. Our next meeting will be on January 7th when Stuart Orme will give a talk entitled “ Mrs Cromwell ’ s Cookbook ” - food, dining and politics in the 17th century. Do come and join us, visitors most welcome. We are enjoying all the activities the chil- dren are doing and of course have an extra festive Christmas decorations up all over the school. We have been very busy with several performances at the end of November we had the Year 4 and Year 2 play. Project Planet was all about a group of school children doing what they can to help protect our environment, much to the annoyance of the local scarecrows! A story of friendship, hard work, and sabo- tage! The kids had so much fun with this performance. We also had the reception ’ s nativity. The Sleepy Shepherd, where we meet a lovable shepherd who just couldn ’ t stay awake. We are so proud of all the children that took part. We were very pleased to see our Choir club perform at St Mary ’ s Church at the village Christmas lights switch on, they gave a wonderful performance. We are very much looking forward to our Key stage 2 Christ- mas Carol concert at St Mary ’ s Church and will joined by many Parents and friends of the school. This is always such a joyful and festive occasion so hopefully this year will be the same. The kids have also enjoyed lots of festive treats, they ’ ve had their delicious Christmas dinner where the children also got to wear their fabulous Christmas jumpers. They have also had their Christmas disco where we saw some amazing dance moves, even some of the adults couldn ’ t help but get involved and have a little dance. We would like to thank the wonderful PTA for yet again anoth- er amazing year. We are so thankful for everything they do for our school we would be lost without them, For the last couple of weeks left at school they have organised a Christmas jumper sale, the amazing school disco and Elfridges a gift shop where the children can buy Christmas gifts for their loved ones. We welcomed prospective Reception parents around for an informal evening in November and an open afternoon in De- cember. It was so lovely to welcome new parents in who were able to have an informal chat with our teachers and a look around the school. We look forward to welcoming all our new students in September.
