And for those who have not yet ventured in, how about a New Years resolution for 2025 to join and use your local library? It ’ s easy to sign up - just pop in with some identification (showing your address) to register for your free Cambridge- shire library card so that you can use our services. It would be great to welcome you! As well as a wide range of books for adults and children, you can find free WiFi at your library, public access PCs, printing and photocopying, quiet space to work, postage stamps for sale, and local information... or you could try one of the activi- ties below … Just Draw After a great December start, we are continuing this informal, self - led monthly drawing club for adults every second Friday, and our next meet is on 10 January from 5 until 6.30pm. Materials will be provided, along with suggestions and items to draw, then it's over to you to doodle or sketch away with oth- ers doing the same. A mindful experience allowing you to fo- cus on one thing and simply relax at the end of the week. No particular skill or experience required, and no obligation to display or share what you do...unless you wish to of course! £1 per person – tea, coffee and biscuits will be available. The Fascinating World of Honey Bees and Beekeeping - Wednesday 26 February at 2pm Beekeepers from the Huntingdonshire Beekeepers' Associa- tion, based at Hinchingbrooke Country Park in Huntingdon, will provide an informative and hopefully humorous insight into the world of the honeybee and beekeeping. With the aid of a demonstration beehive, a range of beekeep- ing equipment, honey and wax, find out why honeybees dance, what they say when they bump into each other, why they vote to choose a new home, how far a hive of bees fly in a day and lots of other extraordinary facts. Terrific Tuesdays Our Tuesday morning Duplo and games for the under 5s con- tinues between 10am and 1pm every Tuesday in our children ’ s library with the usual selection of jigsaws, Orchard games, building blocks and soft toys. Rhymetime restarts on Tuesday 14 January at 2.15pm and will run every Tuesday afternoon until Easter (excluding half term – 18 February ). Rhymetime is perfect for pre - school aged children (including babies), supporting language and literacy development, as well as learning essential skills for communicating, such as turn taking and joining in. No need to book for either of these sessions - just drop in to meet up with other families. Children need to be accompanied by an adult. Super Saturdays Saturday morning Lego Club (all ages) and Family Board Games Club (over 3s) continue this month from 10am until 12.30pm . Just turn up if you ’ d like to take part - children under 8 do need to be accompanied by an adult please. This talk will focus on the fascinating behaviours of dragon- flies, damselflies and demoiselles in and around the home counties. Steve has been fascinated by dragonflies since childhood and is currently a member of the British Dragonfly Society (BDS) conservation group. He has previously been the county re- corder for Bedfordshire as well as being the National Co - Ordinator for the BDS recording scheme. Steve ’ s main interest is in the behaviour of this group of insects and this will be illus- trated by his talk. Everyone is most welcome to attend. Booking is not neces- sary.
