July 2022

17 Buckden Roundabout July 2022 Village News News from The Knot Garden Spring has been very kind to us giving displays of snowdrops and primroses as well as fine weather Tuesdays so that the gardening team have been able to continue with the winter jobs. Now in the warmer weather the laburnum has flowered magnificently, the roses and Judas tree are in flower and we ’ re just starting with clipping the box hedges. This usually takes us most of the summer months. The gardeners came back to the garden after the Jubilee weekend to find that many of our plants had been rehomed and donations left. We ’ re waiting for the treated weeds in the Bishop bed to die off before we go ahead with the weed suppressing membrane and planting. We need to buy a lot of Golden Marjoram plants so that we will be able to complete the restoration. Having searched the internet and plant nurseries we found the exact plants we need at our own Plant sale. We are planning to buy over 70 plants and are going to use your donations to fund that, so thanks to all those who have contributed. FoBT PLANT SALE DAY 2022 It ’ s back to normal at last After two years of being unable to hold the event we were thrilled in May to be able to return to our traditional spring Plant Sale Day. The produce was excellent. The weather was kind, and a good crowd turned up. Our next big event will be a repeat in September of last year ’ s Artisan Market, and of course next May we will be running the Plant Sale Day again. Keep an eye on the website, under “ News and Events ” for dates and details of these and other activities. Website: “ friendsofbuckdentowers.co.uk ” This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed
