This year ’ s Summer Reading Challenge will kick off on 9 and 16 July with two ‘ Sign up Saturdays ’ at Buck- den library between 10am and 1pm. Aimed at primary school aged children, this annual scheme helps to keep kids reading over the summer holidays. Just call in for more details and to register your child. Not a member of Cambridgeshire libraries?... Not a problem – we can sign you up for a membership card too. This years theme is Gadgeteers and is all about discovering the amazing science and innovation behind the world around us, including some of our favourite things! Activities and events are still in the planning but will be adver- tised via the school, on our library windows and our usual so- cial media channels. Keep an eye out! Storytime Special On Wednesday 27 July local author, Linda Upham, will be join- ing us for a special storytime and craft session aimed at the over 4s to around 8 year - olds. Linda will read from her latest book, Grandma ’ s Bedtime Stories, which has been described as ‘ totally absorbing ’, beautifully written and illustrated ’ and ‘ thoughtful and thought provoking ’. Our accompanying craft activity will give children the oppor- tunity to really bring the characters to life. Tickets will be £2 per child to help cover the cost of materials, and as places are limited please pre - book as soon as possible either by email, phone or calling in at Buckden library. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Terrific Tuesdays! Our last Rhymetime for this school year will be Tuesday 5 July at 2.15pm. We then take a break for the summer holidays but will be back in September. However, our Tuesday morning Duplo and games for the un- der 5s will continue between 10am and 1pm in our children ’ s library with the usual selection jigsaws, Orchard games, build- ing blocks and soft toys. No need to book for either of these sessions - just drop in to meet up with other families. Children need to be accompanied by an adult. Age UK Caroline from Age UK will be continuing her monthly drop ses- sions over the summer, offering free information, advice and support for the over 65s and their families.
