It has made me reflect on these years and the places in which I have ministered, Lam- bourn & N Hungerford, Hayes Middx., (several times), Guatemala (11 years), Buckden (several times), Gor- seinon in Wales, Langley Park and Esh in Durham and Leyton in the East End of London. I have done my best to try and follow the example of Christ the Good Shepherd, not always succeeding. During these 55 years of priest- hood I thought of leaving twice but after prayer, reflec- tion and talking to friends I continued in the ministry. In all these places I found people who are searching for Christ, others trying to come closer to him and trying to help others. A big example of this was in Guatemala where people travelled hours to come to Mass as some- times it was only celebrated once every two months in their villages. Also the catechists who came to their train- ing courses in spite of being accused by the army of be- ing terrorists, saying if Christ died for them they could die for Christ and many did. Buckden has been the best place for the Churches work- ing together. Emphasising what we have in common and not the differences. It shows that we listen to Christ ’ s plea for unity which is not uniformity. As we come to the Summer holidays it gives each of us time to relax for a while from our normal work and tasks and gives us an opportunity to be more with the family and time to reflect on our journey in life May you all have a restful time during the summer and renew your strength for the normal routine after the hol- iday. God bless you all. Fr Jim Kennedy CMF CHAPEL ANNIVERSARY TEA - SUNDAY 10 TH JULY at 3.30P.M.
