19 Buckden Roundabout March 2022 Village News March 2022 Children ’ s activities We have a range of activities at Buckden Library for our young- er visitors: Rhymetime sessions have returned to Tuesday afternoons at 2.15, during term time. Join us for half an hour of stories, rhymes, songs and fun for the under 5s. Duplo and games for the under 5s runs each Tuesday morning during term time. Between 10 and 1 our children ’ s library has a selection of jigsaws, Orchard games, Duplo and other toys available those under 5. A great way to encourage children to socialise, and for parents to meet up too. The return of Lego Club in February was a great success and continues on the 12th and 26th March. Suitable for those aged 4 to 99! There is no need to pre - book for any of our children ’ s activi- ties, all of which are free (although we are always grateful for donations). Children must be accompanied by an adult, and we ask that adults wear a face covering if they can. Knit Lit Knit Lit has returned to the library, meeting once a fortnight for knitting, reading and chatting! Their March meetings are on Friday 11th and 25th from 7pm until 9pm – new members are welcome – just turn up! Age UK visit Caroline will be with us again on Tuesday 22nd March from 10am until 12 noon with her drop in sessions for the over 65s and their families. She offers free information, advice and sup- port on how to continue to live safely and independently . Time to apply for or renew your bus pass? We can help. If you are applying for your first pass, and are of pensionable age, you will need to bring proof of age, proof of address and your national insurance number. There is no charge for this service. We have put on our website a calen- dar of events and initiatives that are being promoted nationally and inter- nationally to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining and devel- oping all aspects of biodiversity. In March there are two initiatives that might be of interest to you. March 3rd - World Wildlife Day This is promoted by the World Wildlife Fund and is an initiative to fundraise for international wildlife and raise awareness of the dangers facing many animal species across the world. We are trying to do our bit in Buckden; together with the Friends of Buckden Towers we planted two oak trees in the grounds of the Towers to mark the Queen ’ s Platinum Jubilee.
