Flooding At long last work has begun in the High Street to improve drainage and hopefully avoid future flooding . The work is an- ticipated to take 11 weeks. Volunteers wanted Pre Covid, we had a great group of volunteers who organised a cut back of the overgrown hedge at the top of Silver Street. Unsurprisingly a lot of it has grown back. So we're going to have another tidy up there. It will be on Sunday 27th February 10.00hrs, weather permitting. If interested, please email the BPC clerk so that Lynn, who is organising the session, will know who is coming. It will also ensure you are covered by the County's insurance and mean the clerk can get enough high vis jackets etc: clerk@buckdenpc.org.uk Bring gloves, secateurs, and if you can your green bin! Thanks all. Fred Day It is with great regret that we recognise the death of Fred Day. He was a Councillor for a number of years and led the allot- ments group. His home - made wines were legendary and very welcome at Parish Council celebrations. He was also a stal- wart of the Gardeners Club and for a long time a very active member of the Village Club. He made a big contribution to the village and will be very much missed. The Queen ’ s Platinum Jubilee A small group has been set up to help coordinate the various plans being developed to celebrate the Jubilee over the long weekend of 2 nd to 5 th June. So far there are tentative plans for: • A Beacon Lighting Ceremony and party • Picnics in the grounds of the Towers with entertainment • Closure of the High Street for a market and parades • Decoration of the village • A Children ’ s Fancy Dress Competition • Street Parties • A Dog Show ‘ Brufts ’. And lots more. Please let us know of any plans you have, to celebrate the Jubilee including any street parties, via buckdenjubilee@gmail.com . We will produce an article cov- ering all Buckden Celebrations. Thermal Imaging Camera The thermal imaging camera, which shows where heat is be- ing lost from a property and helps to assess the thermal effi- ciency of a home has been used by many residents. It is now available again to borrow via the Clerk. Litter in the Southern Underpass This is a recurring problem.
