6 Buckden Roundabout May 2020 Village Notices FRIENDS IN DEED Friends in Deed is a voluntary group offering support to Buckden residents. There are times in our lives when we could all do with a little extra support or companion- ship whatever our age or circumstance. With the Covid - 19 pandemic dominating all our lives at the moment it is not surprising that our lives have all been very much affected and our daily routines disrupted. However, we must all follow the government advice and guidelines which means that the Community Cafe and Friends in Deed visiting activities are on hold for the time being. This is especially rele- vant as the majority of our Friends in Deed volunteers, as well as clients, are of an age where they are particularly vulnera- ble. Nevertheless, Friends in Deed is still very much alive and kick- ing but in a modified form. We are working with the Parish Council in delivering their Volunteer Support initiative for the village; picking up enquiries from village residents who are looking for help with prescription collection and delivery, providing someone to talk to or doing essential shopping. Our visitors are maintaining phone contact with those they would normally visit. Whilst we cannot provide social activities or visits, we can still provide support over the phone and can try to point you in the right direction for the help you need. The transport service is still up and running but is obviously not really being used at this time. There are drivers available to collect pre - ordered shopping if this is something you re- quire. If you do have any transport requests, please call our transport co - ordinator Peter on 07914 669967. Leave a mes- sage, giving as much notice as possible and he will call you back. On a more positive note let us celebrate the community spirit of our lovely village where we have pulled together to support each other through this difficult phase. Please stay home and keep safe while we look forward to life returning to some sort of normality when we can welcome you back to our commu- nity cafe and our social activities. If you do need help or if you would like to join us in providing help to others, please call our co - ordinator, Angie, on 07810 006598. Buckden Friends As those who were coming to Blackpool in May already know we felt the right thing to do was to cancel. We have now nego- tiated the transfer to MAY 10th 2021 . We were able to get the deposits, that we would have lost by cancelling, transferred over. Something to look forward to. Monies we are holding for you are safe in an account. We look forward to organising some outings for our village as soon as this Covid19 is all over. - Pat & Brian.
