Thank you, Martin. This year ’ s sale is on 20th May from 11am. We are looking for more photos and paintings of any kind that we could use as a front cover. We especially need photos and paintings of autumn scenes, and of events in the village. We should be grateful for photos (or even paintings!) of the coro- nation celebrations in the village. Please note that photos should ideally be in portrait format and should be a minimum of 2400 x 1700 pixels. More is better! The nightingales are back near the Anglia Water road, singing their unique and beautiful song. I think the coun- tryside around Buckden has looked particularly fine this year, with the great clouds of white blossom on the blackthorn promising an excellent crop of sloes come the autumn. There have been a couple of updates to major development planning applications recently. The Silver street site is on hold, as we under- stand that there is currently no developer prepared to take the appli- cation forward. The application for the site north of Mill Road is showing on the HDC website as having been withdrawn. The regular five - yearly update to the HDC Local Plan is currently underway. There is more local news in the Parish Council update on page 4. The coronation of King Charles will take place in May and there are various plans to mark the occasion in Buckden. Go to page 12 for more details. We are very lucky to have the historical Towers and grounds in our village. The Friends of Buckden Towers is a charity that helps the owners with the upkeep and repair of the Grade 1 listed buildings. You can read the Chairman ’ s annual report on page 5, and remember to visit the FOBT plant sale, which is a fund raising event for the char- ity in the Towers grounds on 20th May from 11am. With summer on the horizon, have you considered taking up bowls? Do you wonder how the Buckden Bowls Club came about? Well there is an article on page 13 about the club, its history and how it current- ly operates. You can go along and try bowling on Saturday 13th May at 10:30. Congratulations to Buckden Preschool for their successful Ofsted report. The pre - school report is on page 15. We are still looking for people to join our team of magazine distribu- tors as reserves . Distributing the magazine only takes half an hour or so once a month. We need to have people standing by as reserves to pick up routes when people are forced to step down for any reason. Distributors also get together for social events a couple of times eve- ry year. Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. As well as every edition from 2013 onwards available to see, there are often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition, as well as infor- mation that arrives during the month. The online edition of the mag- azine is in full colour: www.buckdenroundabout.info This month ’ s editor - Alec MacAndrew Editor ’ s Page
