Art in the Library This month, we would like you to decorate your library space. We are looking for pictures you have made inspired by a book you have read and enjoyed. These could be drawings, paintings, photographs, collage … anything you wish! This is open to all ages and abilities, from toddler scribbles to the budding Da Vinci. Please let us have your creations before the end of November and we will display them in the library as they arrive. Bookstart Bear Club Looking to motivate your young reader? Every 6 stamps earn a bright Bookstart Bear certificate to take home and dis- play. Pop in to register – and if you ’ re not already a library member we can sign you up for that at the same time. Time to apply for or renew your bus pass? We can help. To renew, just call in with your existing bus pass. If you are applying for your first pass, and are of pensionable age, you will need to bring proof of age, proof of address and your national insurance number. There is no charge for this service. New to the village? A Cambridgeshire library card will work in any Cambridgeshire library, so if you have previously used your card elsewhere in the county you can continue to do so in the library on your (new) doorstep. So this year on her birthday, 20th of November, we will be laying her ashes to rest with her loving husband David at the Cemetery Buckden at 11am. After a small service we will cele- brate her life at The Lion, Buckden where refreshments will be provided. Everyone who knew her are welcome to attend and hopefully reminisce about the Doreen we knew and loved. Susan, Shaun and Simon. The Friends of Buckden Towers would like to say thank you to everyone who helped and supported, in every way, the Coffee Morning held on Friday 8 th October, 2021, in the Methodist Schoolroom. The sum raised was £145. 1 st Southoe & Buckden Scout Group Beer & Gin Festival 2021 We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who supported the Beer & Gin Festival this year - the generosity of those who sponsored us and everyone who came to the event over the weekend. You helped us raise nearly £6000! This will go towards funding activities such as camps and trips across all the sections - Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts. Thank you! Have you lost your glasses?! On Friday 24 September, I found two pairs of glasses, still in their case, on the wall infront of St.Marys Church in Buckden. If they belong to you, please call me and provide a de- scription of the frames to ensure that they are returned to their rightful owner. 01480 811063
