As I am compiling the magazine and writing this editorial there is only one subject on peoples lips and minds and that is the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday Septem- ber 8th whilst staying at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire. Like most, the thoughts of the editorial team at the Rounda- bout are with those left behind - sons, daughters and their partners, grandchildren and great - grandchildren. Apart from anything else, Her Majesty was at heart a woman devoted to family. It was somehow appropriate that Her Majesty should pass away at Balmoral, a place long said to be her favourite and the venue for almost every summer of her life. There are tributes and condolence messages from various regular contributors to the magazine, and the editorial team join with those and add our own by featuring Her Majesty on the front cover, and the new poem in tribute by the Poet Lau- reate, Simon Armitage (Page 17) Elsewhere in the magazine there are some very useful point- ers from Buckden Parish Council about where to go to report issues; and our District Councillor has useful advice regarding the cost of living crisis and where to get the support you ,may be entitled to. Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. As well as every edition from 2013 onwards available to see, there are often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition, as well as information that arrives during the month. The online edition of the magazine is in full colour: www.buckdenroundabout.info This month ’ s editor - Ian Carter Editor ’ s Page Advertising Manager Assistant We are looking for an assistant to work with our Advertising Manager, Fiona Shirley.
