On the 8th September we heard the announcement "The Queen has died!" For most of us we have never known another monarch in this country. This year we have all been affected by the celebrations of the Queen ’ s 70 years on the throne. People from all walks of life came out to enjoy it all, and not all of them may not have been royalists at heart. Now comes the grief. Someone described her as being the "grandmother of the nation" and so comes the mourning. Head lines declared "Our hearts are broken". Yet it was Eliza- beth II who was quoted as saying "grief is the price we pay for love". So what is it about Her Majesty that has drawn such ap- preciation? It was as a young Princess that she promised that the rest of her life, whether it be long or short, would be dedi- cated in service to the people. She certainly kept her promise recognising that service is sacrifice. Lots of wonderful stories have come to light from her life, but what strikes me most is what she expressed from her heart. Often when making her Christmas broadcasts to the nation and the Commonwealth she took time to declare the faith that took her through the hardest times of her personal life. She was a Queen, but spoke of the one who was her King, the Lord her God. Whatever maybe our position in life what is most important is that we recognise that the Queen ’ s King can be ours to when we trust Him. The bible says "at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth" (Philippians 2 verse 10). The King of Kings and Queens is the one who brings to us com- fort when all seems hopeless. Blessings to all of you from the Perry village Pastor, Jon Magee Open Art exhibition All Saints', Offord Cluny, 22nd - 23rd October. Please put the dates in your diary, please consider submitting a piece of work to the exhibition, and of course please come to visit it!
