News From The Knot Garden Thank you for continuing to use the QR code on the notice by the Knot Garden gate. At the moment we cannot take cash donations as our donations box came away from the wall. We shall be researching a more secure way for you to make cash donations. We have paused our plant rehoming for the time being but hope to find a way to reintroduce that. The garden is ready for the autumn tidy up. The Wall German- der is full of flowers which the bees love. The hop bines are covered with hop cones, which are found on female plants. They are light green, cone - shaped flowers that turn brown when ripe. They have a distinctive papery texture and are pom - pom - shaped, emitting varying scents and containing yellow lupulin glands that are crucial for beer brewing. The gardeners are very pleased that the jute netting over the arbours held the weight of the summer growth. A more careful look as the plants die back will tell if it can be saved for re - use next year.
