We have therefore purchased several 20mph and 30mph signs that can be affixed to your wheelie bins. If you live in either a 20mph or 30mph zone and would like one of these signs please contact clerk@buckdenpc.org.uk. If we have a lot of interest, we will consider buying more. Mill Road Following on from our page in last month ’ s “ Roundabout ” we can already report some success. Cambridgeshire County Council has agreed to install and fund a 30mph Buffer Zone at the top of Mill Road. The Parish Council has welcomed this and has agreed to continue to press for further improve- ments. Meeting with neighbouring Parish Councils The first meeting was held in early September and was very helpful to all the Parish Councils. We have arranged another one in late October to consider the “ Call for Sites ” which is one of the early stages in the development of the District Lo- cal Plan. Many areas have been put forward in the hope of development, some of which will be within the village, all of which contravene our adopted Neighbourhood Plan. Others, whilst outside our boundaries, may have a major impact on Buckden. More information is at www.consult.huntingdonshire.gov.uk where you will find a link regarding the Ongoing Call for Sites 2023 - 2024. The last date for comment is 31 October. Committees and Advisory Groups The Parish Council has reviewed its Advisory Groups and Com- mittees which it does every year. We have established a Buck- den Integrated Hub and Youth advisory Group and because of the work needed to respond to the District Local Plan we have reinstated the Neighbourhood Plan Advisory Group. We have also changed the Village Maintenance Advisory Group into a Committee which will enable the Council to give it delegated powers to respond even better to issues through- out the village. Footpaths We have just completed our Annual Survey of the footpaths and bridle- ways in the Parish. A full report is available from the Clerk who can also be advised of any problems that you notice. Grafham to Brampton Road Cambridgeshire County Council is proposing to trial a “ Quiet Way ” along the road between Grafham and Brampton. This will involve the closure of the road for up to 18 months to all motor vehicles. Very little information has yet been provided to support these proposals but a consultation has been prom- ised between late September and mid - November. In its Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan published in 2019 the Parish Council refers to the road as a second prior- ity recreational route. It does not support a closure of the road, but suggests a 20mph speed limit, and alternatives of a cycleway along the old railway track or Perry Road. Youth Activities We recently asked younger residents what they think about living in Buckden. One of their main concerns was “ not enough for young people to do ”. As a first step in responding to this we ran two free 2 - hour sessions for 5 – 11 - year - olds at the Village Recreation Ground. These were run with support from One Leisure Active Life- styles. They proved very successful with 20 children attending each event. We are keen to run more of these and hope to run sessions during half - term. Council Meetings The next Council meeting will be at 7.00 pm on Tuesday 8 th October. The meeting will include a 15 - minute open forum. If you want to speak at the meeting, please let us know what you want to say, by contacting the Parish Clerk. You will get a three - minute slot. The Council Planning Committee will also meet if required. Agendas for both meetings are posted on the Parish notice boards no later than the Saturday preceding the meeting. Office opening hours The Clerk operates flexibly between the office and home. If you wish to meet with the Clerk, please call on. 07483 033357.
