19 Buckden Roundabout September 2020 Village News September 2020 Stop by and support your local library … Buckden library re - opened as planned at the beginning of August. Our temporary opening hours are: Tuesday – 2pm - 6pm Friday - 10am - 2pm The limited service we are currently able to provide means you can: • Request books from the library catalogue using the normal on line reservations service or via Customer Services (contact details below). Normal charges have been suspended for this service. • Use our Select and Collect service to request a selec- tion of titles based on, for example, genre or author. Using the form available on our website or by calling Customer Services you can tell us what you like to read and library staff will select books based on your choices. Please note that this is the only way you are currently able to obtain a selection of board and pic- ture books for children. • Return items to Buckden library • Book an appointment to use the library computers . Note that this is currently restricted to one 45 minute appointment per day per customer • Print and photocopy – exact cash only to pay for this please The library will operate a queuing system for readers to col- lect their reserved books which will already have been checked out to you. Please do be prepared to wait outside for a few minutes if we are busy. We cannot currently allow browsing in library buildings or assist with computer use, and all events and clubs remain suspended. We are also not able to accept book donations at this time, so if you have any great titles you would be happy to donate after their lockdown use, please hold on to them for us for now and we will be very pleased to take them off your hands at a later date. We look forward to seeing you soon! Village Hall, Burberry Road, Buckden Tel: 0345 045 5225 www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/library Welcome to a new school year! As I write this in August, the plan is to open Preschool to all pupils again in Septem- ber, with measures in place to ensure that social distancing is facilitated and that strict hygiene standards are main- tained on the premise, alongside frequent and thorough handwashing sessions for pupils and staff. Of course, in these challenging times it ’ s hard to predict events more than a week or two ahead, so if we need to change this decision in any way—or Government guidelines or recommendations mean that we need to do so—we will let parents know as soon as possible. We are a registered charity and COVID 19 has disrupted our fundraising efforts, just as it has the efforts of all other charities, so we would be very grateful if, next time you ’ re in Nisa, you could pop any change you can spare into our collection box there. Every little bit really does help! The autumn term is usually event - filled, with a harvest church visit, lots of autumnal activities, our famous Hallow- een Party and, of course, many Christmas events. It re- mains to be seen how many of these things can go ahead this year—but watch this space for further details! We look forward to welcoming our new starters and their families to our Preschool community and hope they will be very happy here. And of course, we look forward to wel- coming back our existing pre - schoolers and hearing about what they have been up to over the very unusual summer holidays! We wish you all a safe September.
