A time when autumn approaches and the wonderful colours appear on the trees surrounding us. Sum- mer may appear to be past, but there is still hope before us. My guess is that many of us have been looking for hope during the past year or two. We have felt the stress in the midst of the lockdown. We have sensed the fear as we hear the news of Covid. We have felt the anxiety as we hear how the health of loved ones has been affected. Now, we look forward, hoping the past is truly behind us. However, there is one message that has been clear throughout history whether it be the tough times or the easier times. The Christian message has consistently been that there is hope whatever our circumstances maybe. Peter wrote “ the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. “(1 Peter 5 verse 10) How is your hope? Does it bounce back after being hit? Does it cause you to doubt when you lose hope in a situation? God knows that we all struggle with finding and holding onto hope. When you are facing tests of faith, even the strongest Chris- tians can find it a challenge to find hope. But our Lord has such hope available for you. In the gospels we read of how Peter walked on the water towards Jesus. All went well until he took his eyes of Jesus and looked at the circumstances surrounding him. Whatever the circumstances may we each look unto Je- sus, the author of our faith. The buildings that churches meet in are now open. Carol Swepstone 810053 Congratulations Hilda Recent months have seen so much sad news that it is heart- warming to report some good news. It is not often that the village can celebrate the 100 th birthday of a person who was born in Buckden and has lived here all of her life. Hilda West was born on 11 th September 1921 in 4 York ’ s Yard, just off the High Street. She was the second daughter of Ed- ward and Mabel Peacock. She attended the Buckden school and has watched the Village grow but believes that no matter how its population rises it will still maintain its community spirit. We wish her a very happy birthday and many more years en- joying her family, TV soaps and murder mysteries.
