Buckden was highlighted as a village having a problem of anti - social social behaviour by younger residents. Extra police assistance was requested to help solve the prob- lem. The Council and many residents felt that the blame did not rest solely with younger Buckden residents but with teen- agers from other villages coming to the Buckden to ‘ party ’. In spite of the efforts of the village handyman and public - spirited residents Litter became an increasing problem in the village. A “ Get a Grip on Litter ” day was organized but failed due to a lack of volunteers. The recent efforts by the volun- teer group on Sundays has shown how this problem can be solved by a determined effort by public spirited residents. Next month I shall write about the early discussions on the future of the A14, possible improvements to the A1, particu- larly the roundabout, speeding and parking in the village. - Terry Hayward (Parish Council continued from page 14) How is business now things are back up and running, do you think there will be any lasting changes? Its good, it ’ s great to be back in the salon and seeing clients again. We have noticed that people are extending the time between ap- pointments now, probably because they ’ ve learnt to get by during the various lockdowns. That means we have space now for new clients which is always nice and we also can give our existing clients more time as well which is great. As much as its good to be fully booked, you still want the time to give people good service and the personal touch. Do you have any plans for the future that you want to share? For now, it ’ s just a case of getting back into our stride after what ’ s happened, hopefully welcoming new customers and potentially new stylists as well. The salon is bigger than it looks from the outside as we have two main rooms, one at the front and one out the back with five stations in total so there is room to grow. We also have a little garden which is nice for people to get a bit of fresh air while their colour is developing. Finally, do you have anything you want to say to or ask of the local community? I guess just to keep supporting us local businesses where you can. There are two hairdressers in Buckden which is amazing for a village. I know it ’ s a big deal to change hairdressers when you ’ ve found someone you like but for anyone that is looking for a change, is new to the area or just wants to pop somewhere locally for some special occasion hair, please think of those of us on your doorstep as cer- tainly at Syrupp we ’ re available and always excited to welcome new clients.
