Christmas Miscellany
For our December meeting, The Huntingdonshire Local Group of the Wildlife Trust will present a miscellany of two
short talks plus a light-hearted wildlife quiz. This will be held on Wednesday 10th December starting at 7.30pm at
Brampton Memorial Hall, Thrapston Road, Brampton, PE28 4TB.
Amy Robinson, who is the Wildlife Trust’s Ouse Valley Education and Community Officer, will start with ‘The Hid-
den Wonders of Godmanchester Reserve’. Amy tells us that otters and wildfowl are already resident and she is
hoping that Godmanchester will host the starling murmuration again this year. Our chairman, Pat Doody, will then
summarise the results of this year’s Brampton Biodiversity project and we look forward to hearing how many spe-
cies share our neighbourhood.
We are also introducing a quiz for this Christmas edition, plus the usual raffle, wine and mince pies.
Anyone interested in wildlife is most welcome to attend. Entrance charge £2.50; accompanied children free.

Jingle all the way to your recycling bin
We are recycling more at home than ever before, which is
great, and we don’t want it to be forgotten about during the
festivities.
Christmas is a time for entertaining, which means we all
have more waste to dispose of. In Huntingdonshire, we
are fortunate to be able to recycle a wide range of materi-
als within the blue bins or clear sacks, which helps us all to
recycle more this Christmas.
Collections of all waste types will continue throughout the
festive period, but your day of collection will change for a
few weeks. Please be aware that some collections may
take place a day or two before your normal collection day
and these are highlighted here.
‘We’re Dreaming of a Green Christmas’ this year so join us
by giving some of these top tips a try
If you're having a party, recycle all the glass bottles,
drinks cans and plastic bottles within your blue bin.
When you're unwrapping your gifts think about keep-
ing the wrapping paper and cards to use as next
year’s paper and gift tags.
Charities, schools and hospitals will be grateful of
unwanted or duplicate gifts.
Home compost all your fruit and vegetable peelings
to create compost for your garden.
Use Christmas leftovers to make other dishes like turkey curry. More leftover recipes at
www.lovefoodhatewaste.com
Give rechargeable batteries with Christmas presents to reduce waste from single life batteries.
Instead of buying Christmas decorations try making your own from everyday household items, e.g. buttons
and salt dough.
If you have an artificial tree, pack it away carefully so that it can be used again next year.
