Britain’s Hoverflies—an introduction
The Huntingdonshire Local Group of the Wildlife Trust is pleased to present an illustrated talk entitled ‘Britain’s Hoverflies –
an Introduction’ on Wednesday 11
th
November at 7.30pm at Brampton Memorial Hall, Thrapston Road, Brampton, PE28
4TB.
The British fauna comprises over 280 species of hoverfly and, our speaker, Roger Morris, will enlighten us with regard to
these familiar insects that we regularly see on our garden flowers. Roger will give an overview of their varied ecology and
will explain how this makes hoverflies one of the most useful indicators of the health of the countryside. Roger will also out-
line the work of the Hoverfly Recording Scheme, which he runs together with Stuart Ball.
Anyone interested in wildlife is most welcome to attend. Entrance charge £2.50; accompanied children free. No need to
book. Please contact Tim on 07941 261346 for further information.
