Cambridge County Council Corporate Communications team writes:

We’re trying to improve the way that we get information out to the residents of our county and we realise the important role that Parish Councils play in that.

We know that you may already receive some information from parts of our organisation but we would like to develop a more coordinated approach to this.

Over the next six months we will be trialling a new way of working, using the contact details that the District Council’s maintain, we’ll be sending you, every two months, some summaries of key things which we think residents would like to be made aware of and that we hope you may like to include in your local magazine or newsletter. We’ll keep things as brief as possible and from across the whole organisation as appropriate.

You can dowload the newsletter here.

“Buckden A Huntingdonshire Village”

This 224 page A4 hard back book was published in 2010 by a company (now wound up) set up by the Society. A thousand copies were printed. Of those remaining a number are reserved for prizes for children at the village school and a few remain for sale at the library or through the society. Reference copies are held by local libraries and museums.

It was decided that in keeping with current trends the book should if possible be made available for reference via the internet. The Roundabout editorial team has agreed to host a digital copy of the book for which the Society is very grateful. Errors in the original discovered or pointed out have been dealt with in this version; not to say that there are not others unrecorded.

The book followed a 1980 booklet produced for the Parish Council by Sue Edgington. Some have been led to ask when the next edition is coming out. There is material for a second volume “out there” but it must await another team of enthusiasts to assemble and publish it, perhaps in less than thirty years’ time. May this digital copy inspire such a team!
