Buckden - a Huntingdonshire Village

PB3.3.1 The Towers grounds or the palace’s Little Park has seen many events over the years. Dennis Burton organised several steam rallies. This one was in 1980. David Thomas PB3.3.2 The Scout Group held numerous annual donkey derbys in aid of funds, the last one being in 1990. Most of the races per meeting were between donkeys ridden bare-back by children. The leaders being heavier were only allowed to drive sulkies. Gerald Carpenter had been the leading organiser of the events and Clerk of the Course but this year Peter Mailer acted in that capacity.
