Buckden Volunteers Due to the latest lockdown The Parish Council, St Mary ’ s Church and Friends In Deed have reinstated the volunteering scheme in the village. If you know of someone in the village who needs help with for example shopping, prescriptions etc. please contact ask them to contact: 07739249036 or 07525267851 Parish Council 01480 819377 Rev Jes between 9am - 6pm. Neighbourhood Plan We have now made the modifications suggested by the Exam- iner and the Plan has been submitted to HDC. We expect final sign off on 9 th December. Due to COVID the plan cannot be put to referendum in the village until May. However, it will have immediate influence in determining planning applications e.g. Silver Street. A success- ful referendum will have the effect of considerably increasing the amount of money (Community Infrastructure Levy) availa- ble to the parish in the event of development occurring. Planning/Buckden Roundabout Representatives from the Council met with Highways England (HE) on 21 st October. HE are satisfied that traffic lights can be installed on the North and South bound A1 at the roundabout without significant impact on the flow of traffic on the A1. They do have outstanding concerns about the safety of the roundabout and a Safety Audit is to be undertaken. The changes to the Shell Garage to include electricity charging points will further impact this. However, we still have not seen any data about what impact the traffic light proposal will have on mitigating traffic queues in the High Street and Perry Road should the Silver Street and Mill Road Developments proceed. This is frustrating as the main reason for considering changes to the Roundabout was to alleviate the impact of the anticipated in- crease in traffic generated by the housing developments A further meeting is to be held on 17 th November to seek greater clarity. An update will be posted on the web site. Consultation on Luton Airport flight paths The National Air Traffic Service have recently launched a con- sultation exercise on plans to make alterations to the flight paths and holding pattern arrangements for Luton air- port. The plans include a new holding pattern for the airport which is intended to be over the south - western corner of Huntingdonshire (broadly circling round the line of the A1 from St Neots to Alconbury). The Council have responded to this consultation and have written to our MP. Further details are on the web site at: https://buckdenpc.org.uk/ consultation - on - luton - airport - flight - paths - information - from - hdc/ . Planning White Paper The Council has responded to the Government White Paper and the response is available on the web site. Winter Management Plan The Parish Council has reviewed the Winter Management Plan and no revisions have been made. Unfortunately, the Council does not have the infra structure or capacity to grit paths. The Parish Council will not be formally authorising residents to grit, the advice for residents who wish to clear paths or spread grit is contained in the plan. https:// buckdenpc.org.uk/winter - management - plan/ Council Meetings The next Council meeting will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday 8th December.
