Silver Street Development and the Roundabout We are meeting with National Highways on 12 th December. They have promised us an update on the long awaited plans for the Roundabout. We will also be discussing the plans to upgrade the Shell Garage and the safety of vehicles exiting the garage onto the Roundabout. The 65 and 66 Bus Route We raised the numerous concerns expressed by residents with the relevant Authority. The results of the retendering process for these routes are now available together with re- vised timetables. We will be looking at these in detail in the coming days. Warm Spaces In response to the current energy/cost of living crisis several ‘ warm spaces ’ are being established locally as follows: Buckden Library Tuesday 10am to 1pm, and 2pm to 5pm Thursday 2pm to 5pm Friday 4pm to 7pm Saturday 10am to 1pm St Mary ’ s Church Buckden Is operating as a warm space on the days when the heating is in operation for regular services, Sunday mornings and Wednesday mornings. Also, the first Saturday morning of the month, which is the monthly Coffee & Cakes event (10.30 to 12noon). Buckden Methodist Church: 1st Friday of the month 10 to 11.30am 3rd Friday of the month until 12 noon. Sunday morning service 10:30 to 11:30 am Perry Baptist Church: 1st & 3rd Monday of the month, Every Sunday morning @ 10:30 am 1st Sunday of the month @ 6 pm Flooding Yet again there has been flooding in the Village. This time The Lion was unexpectedly affected. The Council currently have two pumps available for residents to use. We are in the pro- cess of purchasing a third and upgrading those we already have. For the moment you can ac- cess these via the Clerk. We are how- ever looking at the best location to store these. If your property is at risk of flooding it may be worth purchasing one. They have proven to be very effective. The Clerk has details of what and where to pur- chase. Our recently established Flood Group are keen to establish a register of all those properties/areas that have flooded in re- cent years. If you have experienced flooding or observed flooding in a particular location, other than those that are regularly reported please do let us know via the Clerk. Unfortunately, Dawn Packham has resigned from the Council. We would like to thank Dawn for her significant contribution to the Council. We have two vacancies for Parish Councillors. We still need more capacity on the council to take forward a variety of initi- atives to improve the village. Please join us. If you are inter- ested, please contact the Clerk for further details. Council Meetings The next Council meeting will be at 7.00 pm on Tuesday 13 th December. The meeting will include a 15 - minute open forum. If you want to speak at the meeting, please let us know what you want to say, by contacting the Parish Clerk. You will get a three - minute slot. The Council Planning Committee will also meet if required. Agendas for these meetings are posted on the Parish notice boards no later than the Saturday preceding the meeting.
