          June is the celebration of the feast of Pentecost this year.  Pentecost is one of the threemost im-
        
        
          portant celebrations in theChristian calendar alongwith the birth of Christ at Christmas and theEaster
        
        
          resurrection.  Pentecost, which comes fifty days after Easter recalls the coming of theHolySpirit on the
        
        
          apostles as promised by Jesus beforehe ascended back toheaven.

          withGod’sSpirit theApostleswere emboldened togo out andbegin the spread of theGoodNews of
        
        
          JesusChrist throughout theworld.
        
        
          It is seenas the birthdayof theChristian church as on the first Pentecost day 3,000 peoplewere bap-
        
        
          tised after they heard theapostlePeter tell themabout JesusChrist, about his life, death and resurrec-
        
        
          tion andwhat hehas done for us.
        
        
          Here inBuckdenwe celebrate thebirthday of theChurch eachPentecost by coming together fromour
        
        
          various churches–Anglican, Baptist andCatholic – for a birthday picnic in thegrounds of TheTowers.
