New Website We have launched a new website. The address is www.buckdenpc.org.uk. Please visit the site and sign up so that we can contact you with any important information. We post regular updates about services from Huntingdonshire and Cambridgeshire Councils. Parish Council Meetings All Parish Council, Planning and Advisory Group meetings will be online only for the moment. If you wish to attend an online meeting you will find instructions on the web site. Neighbourhood Plan This is now complete and ready for submission to HDC for consultation and inspection. Unfortunately, due to COVID 19 we have been advised by HDC that consultation may be diffi- cult, and a referendum will not be possible until May 2021. This is extremely disappointing as, should the Silver Street development be approved before our plan is final the amount of CIL funding the village will receive will be significantly re- duced. We have referred this matter to our MP and District Councillor. Walking our footpaths The lockdown has enabled many Buckden residents to discov- er and rediscover the footpaths around the village. We know that many of you are enjoying the Round - about - Buckden route launched last year. Follow the link https:// buckdenpc.org.uk/round - about - buckden - walk/ f or more de- tails, including a children ’ s leaflet and a leaflet describing what wildlife you might see in spring. If you want hard copies of the route there are some in the leaflet box by the Village Hall; PLEASE use gloves if you access these. Walking is a lovely way to explore and enjoy our village and the surrounding countryside. We have a number of footpaths around the village; please follow the link for our village foot- path map http://www.buckdenparishcouncil.org.uk/footpaths - map.html It would be helpful to have some feedback from you on the paths; what you are enjoying and what if any problems you have encountered. We carry out an annual footpath check and we know that some of our paths can get overgrown and that some are uneven. Please watch out in particular for B7 and 8 (as numbered on the footpath map), which are rather uneven due to horse riders using them. We had intended to have our Friends of Buckden Footpaths group up and running by now. This is a group of volunteers that have offered to help maintain the paths. Unfortunately, lock- down has caused a delay, but we hope to be able to launch the group very soon. Any feedback on the paths please send to https://buckdenpc.org.uk/contact/ Hedges and trees overhanging the Public Highway We have noticed that there are several places where people ’ s hedges are overhanging pavements and footpaths, this makes it difficult for those with mobility problems and people with pushchairs and buggies. Please check your hedges. The fol- lowing is the guidance to the legal issues in relation to hedges. Property owners/occupiers have a legal responsibility to en- sure that paths and roads next to their property are not ob- structed by any vegetation from their property. If we become aware of such obstructions, we will usually ad- vise the property occupier of the problem and if necessary, (Continued on page 18) All of the papers and reports for Council meetings are available on the Thursday before the meetings on the Council website http://buckdenparishcouncil.org.uk .
