Thought for the month
Why do we do what we do…….
The Guru’s Cat
When the guru sat down to worship each evening, the ashram cat would get in the way and distract the worshipers.
So he ordered that the cat be tied during evening worship.
After the guru died the cat continued to be tied during evening worship. And when the cat died, another cat was
brought to the ashram so that it could be duly tied during evening worship.
Centuries later learned treatises were written by the guru’s disciples on the religious and liturgical significance of ty-
ing up a cat while worship is performed.
– Anthony De Mello, The Song of the Bird

CHRISTIAN AID COFFEE MORNING
Please come along to the Methodist Schoolroom from 10a.m. on Friday 12th May to the annual Buckden and Dis-
trict Churches Together Christian Aid Coffee Morning. Now that we can no longer make a house-to-house collection,
this is our main fund-raising effort of the year and it is important that it is well supported when the needs in the
world are so great. We hope to have some stalls as well as refreshments and good company. Unable to be there?
Spare envelopes will be available in each of the churches for your kind donations.
STUDY LUNCHES
The study lunches continue on Monday May 8th
The generosity of all who come to the study lunches is amazing. Churches Together at their next meeting will dis-
cuss where to donate the 'profit' but if anyone who attends the lunches would like to put forward a suggestion
please do let me know – Ann B. 812012
