Silver Street Development and the Roundabout The Silver Street development has received outline plan- ning permission. However, for the development to progress there remains a dependency upon finding a solution to problems at the A1 roundabout. We have been meeting regularly with National Highways (NH) who are still reviewing the proposals made by the devel- oper ’ s traffic consultants. This is taking longer than an- ticipated. We have asked that NH also take account of the impact of both the new ‘ Black Cat/A428 ’ development and the expansion of the Shell garage in their analysis. We are concerned that speeding up the throughput of traffic at the Black Cat will result in even longer queues at Buck- den. Cancelling the 66 Bus Route This route links Huntingdon with Brampton, Buckden and St. Neots, including Hinchingbrooke Hospital. This is a serious deterioration in local services at a time when our village is growing and the proportion of elderly peo- ple without cars is increasing. We have raised these con- cerns with the relevant Authority. Cemetery Mapping We now have a new application which is available on our website. This enables you to search for a grave using name, date of birth etc. and avoids potentially lengthy paper searches. We will also be putting up a notice board in the cemetery providing better guidance about how to locate graves. Christmas Lights and the Christmas Market We have sourced new Christmas lights for this year. They use LED bulbs which are cheaper and more sustainable, and will, we hope be more reliable than the previous lights which failed several times last year. We are keen to reuse the existing lights elsewhere in the village. We have also made funds available to pay for the traffic management costs of closing the High Street for the lights switch on and mar- ket. Flooding We meet regularly with the Cambridgeshire Flood Agency to try to identify solutions to the various flooding issues in the village. Funds have been secured to explore what can be done to the west of the A1, to stop water flowing downhill rapidly and flooding both the A1 and the High Street. Councillors We would like to welcome Catherine Grigg as a new Councillor. We regret that Josh Harris and Pam Fraser have re- signed as Councillors. Thank you to both for their contri- bution to the Council. We have two vacancies for Parish Councillors. We still need more capacity on the council to take forward a variety of initiatives to improve the village. Please join us. If you are interested, please contact the Clerk for further details.
