Buckden Roundabout
October 2017
School & Pre-School
Our new starters are settling in well and making friends. The
children are enjoying printing leafy autumn trees using cotton
reels and learning more about their bodies as part of our ac-
tivities this half-term. They’re also looking forward to theme
weeks on numbers, shapes and The Rainbow Fish as we near
the end of September. Next month, there will be Harvest Fes-
tival activities, including a visit to the church and activities
based on the Jewish festival of Sukkot, and the children will be
learning about Diwali too.
On the fundraising front, we will be raising money for Jeans
for Genes and Macmillan Cancer Support with a coffee after-
noon and second-hand children’s book sale. This will be at
preschool from 2-3 on Thursday 29
th
September. But our main
pre-Christmas fundraiser, as always, will be our famous Hal-
loween Disco!
Halloween Disco

We again ask for your kind and generous support. Our grateful thanks also go to HMP Littlehey and the residents and business-
es alike in Buckden, Diddington and Perry. The collections seem to become more important each year as we find that many
prison inmates are ex-service personnel with serious mental health issues and seemingly wrongly in prison rather than hospital.
Hopefully the new interest in mental health treatment might help.
May I take this opportunity to remind donors of the advantages of gift aiding which increases the value of donations by 25%
and any amount can be gift aided.
The RBL needs more new members as the roll reduces each year. Our Branch exists now only for the Poppy Appeal. We do how-
ever receive information of numerous activities, trips etc. information about which I would be pleased to pass on. My telephone
number is 810070 and I will try to help any query. Enquiries about membership may be passed directly to John Cartwright on
811402.
