I am thinking of examples like our Parish Council, our Village Hall Trust, our Almshouses, Buckfest, the Friends of Buckden Towers, Guides and Scouts, The Patients Association, the Village Club and even this magazine. All of these are run completely by volun- teers. Think of how much poorer a place Buckden would be without these things. So this month, I am focusing on requests from several organisations for help. First, this magazine is in urgent need of an assistant to the Advertising Manager. Without the income from adverts this magazine would not exist. See the box at the end of this piece. Next, see the advertisement on page 20 for volunteers to as- sist in a number of roles with girl guiding in Buckden. What a fantastic way to give back something to our younger resi- dents. (Also see the article on page 12 describing Buckden Scouts recent trip to Switzerland.) On page 21 you ’ ll find an invitation from Aragon Singers to join the choir, and a plea for people to join the Buckden Village Club committee. There are many other examples of voluntary and community participation spread throughout the magazine. In fact, it ’ s amazing how many organisations, clubs and societies thrive in Buckden and rely on volunteers. I ’ ll mention just two more— Friends In Deed are looking for volunteer drivers to ferry peo- ple to hospital and other appointments, and the Parish Coun- cil has three vacancies. Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. As well as every edition from 2013 onwards available to see, there are often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition, as well as information that arrives during the month. The online edition of the magazine is in full colour: This month ’ s editor - Alec MacAndrew Editor ’ s Page Advertising Manager Assistant We are looking for an assistant to work with our Advertising Manager, Fiona Shirley.
