August 2018
Summer Reading Challenge
The Summer Reading Challenge is now in full swing across Cam-
bridgeshire. At Buckden Library children are busy reading and col-
lecting stickers as part of the ‘Mischief Makers’ challenge.
This year, there’s also a challenge for 10 – 18 year olds. ImagiNA-
TION involves reading two books and creating artwork and reviews
to inspire others to read your recommendation. Everyone who
takes part in ImagiNATION will be entered into a prize draw at the
end of the summer.
It’s not too late to take part, just come along to the library to sign up
and join the fun!

Buckden Parish Community Allotments
We now have a small number of allotment plots
available including our new half size plots, designed
for those whose spare time is short.
The allotments can be an ideal place to unwind, re-
lax whilst taking exercise, not to mention cutting
down on your grocery bill! In the last year we have
also welcomed Buckden C of E primary School and
the Scouts to the allotments who are all adding to a
strong community feel at the allotments, not to
mention some great vegetables grown.
With support from our local business and grant ap-
plications we are in the process of creating a com-
munal area giving plot holders a place to socialise
and shelter when needed.
We will be holding our annual BBQ at the new com-
munal area on Sunday 2
nd
Sept, from 11.00am. Pro-
spective new members are very welcome to join us
and get a feel for having an allotment.
