July 2018
Summer Reading Challenge
Every year Cambridgeshire Libraries run a Summer Reading
Challenge to encourage children to keep on reading over the
summer. Last year over 7000 children across Cambridgeshire
took part.
This year the theme is Mischief Makers, celebrating the 80
th
anniversary of the Beano.
To take part in the challenge, children are asked to read 6
books of their choice over the summer and visit the library to
tell us what they’ve read. At the library children will be given
their Mischief Makers collectors wallet and stickers for each
book they read.
During the summer there’ll be lots of activities at the library,
including Lego club, a comic strip workshop and musical
rhyme time. Look out for details in the library.
The Summer Reading Challenge starts on 21

A14 upgrade
After the recent closure of the A1 Northbound from Buckden
Roundabout, and the subsequent chaos it caused both in the
village and on the surrounding roads, it became apparent from
social media that residents felt there was not enough infor-
mation available regarding the impending closures and the
diversion routes.
Whilst there is little we can do to make this information more
widely known, and in particular to traffic users on the A1 in
advance of their journey, there is information available that
could prove useful to people in the village and perhaps make
future closures less of a surprise!
There are 2 principal sources of information.
For regularly updated information on road closures and other
plans, visit the Facebook page for the project at:

ject such as progress, news, background and information
about the project in general, please visit the Highways England
