SCHOOL & PRE-SCHOOL NEWS
BUCKDEN PRE-SCHOOL PLAYGROUP
We have had a lovely start to the new term,
welcoming back some familiar faces as well as
getting to know some new families. The past
few weeks have been as busy as ever and
October shows no sign of being different!
We have been enjoying plenty of Autumnal
projects and trips out including walks around the
valley, looking at leaves and collecting twigs
and bits for a range of crafts.
We are getting excited about our Halloween
Party which this year is to be held on the
31
October
from 3.00 till 5.00 pm. With a ‘deadly
disco’ and great range of refreshments lined up,
this is quickly becoming one of our most popular
fundraising events so be sure to book tickets
ASAP! Tickets are available from Pre-School
and all are welcome.
You may also have noticed that this term we
have available to purchase Pre-School Bags
and T-shirts. Please ask one of the teachers if
you are interested in either.
Christine Lawrence has now stepped down from
her role as our chairperson, she has done a
fantastic job over the years and her passion and
dedication to Pre-School will leave a lasting
effect on all who have worked with her.
We are pleased to announce that Corrine
Emeleus has kindly stepped in as a temporary
Chairperson for our committee. She has worked
tirelessly as our fundraising coordinator and we
are extremely grateful to her for taking this on
whilst we look for someone to fill this vital role.
If you are interested in becoming involved in the
committee at any level please do not hesitate to
contact Sarah or Corrine at Pre-School on the
numbers below.
As always, if you want to know more about Pre-

BUCKDEN CHURCH OF
ENGLAND SCHOOL
(Primary Academy Trust)
We are now getting back into our routines after
the summer holidays. We have welcomed three
new teachers to the school, Mr Burfiend, Miss
Harding and Miss Wilkerson. We have also
welcomed our new Reception intake. The staff
and children are settling into the routines at
school very well.
We have already been busy doing a variety of
activities. The children in Years 5 and 6 have
visited the Roald Dahl Museum at the home of
the author. They had a lovely day learning
about him and his books and exploring the
‘shed’ where he wrote his books. To
compliment the visit the whole school had a
dress-up ‘Dahlicious Day’. All the staff and
children came to school dressed as a character
from the Roald Dahl books. We had a wide
variety of characters wandering through the
school for the day. Everyone entered into the
spirit of the day.
The Harvest Service was held in the church
which is the first service our new Reception
children will attend. Thank you to Rev Ally for
conducting the service.

ballroom dancing. Further details about this
