September saw the hall busy every weekend, with 2 children’s parties, a dance weekend, 2
christenings, a cancer support day and 3 evening functions over the course of the month. It was a
pleasure to welcome everyone to the hall, and we hope that all who used the hall enjoyed themselves,
and will spread the word!
Our October Fundraiser is, as ever, our popular coffee morning. Coffee/tea and cake from 9.00 am for
£2.50 with a variety of stalls, for (dare-we-say-it) some early Christmas shopping. Please do join us
after the school run. During October we also welcome a variety of functions, including Life Screening
on Friday 11 October, a golden wedding celebration, a wedding anniversary, the St Neot’s Young
Farmers and a Village Club night and we have the bearded collie dog show taking place on Sunday
20
th
.
Our November Fundraiser is a Race Night with fish’n’chips supper on Saturday 30 November, from
7.30 pm. Tickets are £7.50 to include supper and can be purchased from Rachel (811101) in the
Village Hall office.
On a more serious note, we have had reports of youths taking dinghies in to the Valley and setting sail.
The Valley area is a strictly no fishing, no boating and no swimming area. This is for the safety of
residents, and we would request that this is observed in future.
FRIENDS IN DEED
After a glorious summer [for those of us who
enjoy continental-type sunshine] we get down to
the serious business of planning for autumn.
Our usual visiting, driving and any other helpful
activity our individual skills can provide, continue.
At the same time we try to prepare and train
ourselves to give our help in the best way we are
capable of. Some of our training is “members
only” but what we enjoy most is working with
other groups, learning from their expertise and
inviting you, the people of Buckden to share it
with us.
We hope you will want to come to our AGM on
Wednesday 16 October
when the business part
of the meeting will be kept to a minimum and we
shall enjoy listening to Pam Frazer who will tell
us about the work of AGE UK. Our speakers are
invariably interesting and have always been
happy to answer questions from the audience.
We shall meet in the Millennium Hall at 7.30 pm.
This is an occasion when you can learn more
about Friends in Deed, decide if you or anyone
you know might need our help or even to join our
group. And of course, you need not wait until
then. The numbers to contact are:
